Ingredients

  • 0.7 cup mayonnaise
  • 1.2 cup hot water
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 0.25 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.04 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp butter (softened at room temperature)
  • 0.5 cup cream cheese (cold)
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (additional for frosting)
  • 0.04 tsp salt (for frosting)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix mayonnaise, hot water, and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients separately. Mix wet and dry ingredients. Pour into a greased pan and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Prepare frosting by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, cocoa, vanilla, and salt. Spread over cooled cake.
