Ingredients

Dough

  • 0.35 cup butter (unsalted)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 units eggs
  • 3 cups flour (all-purpose)
  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup orange juice (for syrup)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (for syrup)

Instructions 

  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • Grease and flour a bundt or round cake pan.
  • Sift flour and baking powder separately.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  • Mix in the flour gradually.
  • Add orange juice and mix until smooth.
  • Gently fold in beaten egg whites.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 45-60 minutes.
  • Allow to cool slightly, then prepare syrup by mixing orange juice and sugar.
  • Pour syrup over warm cake and let absorb.

Notes

For a more intense orange flavor, add orange zest to the batter.
