Delight in these rich, chocolatey American-style cookies with a perfect balance of sweetness and texture.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 0.44 cup unsalted butter (melted and browned)
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt (refined)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla extract (or 1-2 mL essence)
  • 2.1 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.1 tsp baking soda (bicarbonate de sódio)
  • 0.53 cup milk chocolate chips (mini gotas)
  • 0.35 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (gotas normais)

Instructions 

  • Cook butter until browned and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes, then let cool slightly.
  • Pour warm butter into a heatproof bowl and add sugars, salt, egg, yolk, and vanilla. Mix for 30 seconds, rest 3 minutes, repeat twice.
  • Mix in flour and baking soda until combined. Fold in chocolates.
  • Portion dough into 45-50g balls, place on baking sheet, and bake at 180°C (356°F) for 14-15 minutes until edges are golden.
  • Cool on baking sheet before transferring.

Notes

For best results, freeze dough balls and bake directly from frozen.
