Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 0.12 cup cornstarch (amido de milho)
  • 2.1 cup whole milk
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 3 units eggs
  • 0.005 g refined salt (a pinch)
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract (or vanilla bean)

Instructions 

  • Mix cornstarch, milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and salt in a saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for 3-4 minutes until thickened.
  • Continue cooking for 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  • Strain if desired for a smoother texture, then cool as preferred.
  • Chill or use immediately; the cream will thicken as it cools.
