Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 1/4 cup unsalted butter (250g, room temperature)
  • 4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cane molasses
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg beaten egg

Instructions 

  • Mix dry ingredients and set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar, add egg, then gradually mix in molasses.
  • Combine dry ingredients into wet, knead into dough, then chill for 4-6 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 180°C. Roll out dough, cut shapes, and bake for 10-20 minutes until edges are golden.
