Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3.15 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.67 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.73 cup brown sugar
  • 0.42 cup cane molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 g baking soda
  • 4 g ground ginger
  • 4 g ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 g ground cloves (less than 1/4 teaspoon)

Sugar for coating

  • to taste crystal sugar (for rolling)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Mix all ingredients except flour in a bowl.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until dough forms.
  • Form 15g balls, roll in sugar, and place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 minutes until edges are golden.
  • Cool briefly on sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Store in an airtight container; crispness diminishes over time.
