Delight in these classic decorated sugar cookies, perfect for any celebration or just a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 200 g manteiga sem sal (gelada; pode ser com sal)
  • 200 g açúcar refinado
  • 1 unit ovo (gelado)
  • 420 g farinha de trigo
  • 8 g essência de baunilha (transparente)
  • 1 teaspoon canela em pó (opcional)
  • 1 teaspoon gengibre em pó (opcional)
  • 0.125 teaspoon cravo em pó (opcional)
  • 1 tablespoon cacau em pó (opcional)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 180°C. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cream butter and sugar until creamy, 1-2 minutes.
  • Add egg and vanilla, mix for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Mix in flour and optional flavorings until uniform. Knead by hand if dough is crumbly.
  • If hot, chill dough for 10-15 minutes.
  • Roll out dough to 3-5 mm thickness on floured surface. Freeze for 5 minutes.
  • Cut shapes, freeze for 5 minutes, then bake 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Cool on baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill dough if too soft for easier rolling and cutting.
